The company was founded in 1983 as a provider of educational facilities for British examinations from its property at 282/6, Galle Road, Colombo 03000 situated along the same by road of the present complex. The property at 282/6, Galle Road, Colombo 03000 was constructed to suit the high volume Sri Lankan market conditions for economically priced educational programs of UK professional bodies.
The land at 282/6, Galle Road, Colombo 03000 was acquired in 2005 for the roadway development at short notice. CBS gradually moved out of the teaching activities in order to focus on completion of the construction activities at 282/1, Galle Road, Colombo 03000. The company entered the career development, consultancy, accounting / ERP management services for operating in a niche market and leased the office space of the building to corporate sector for generating rental income

The company is currently operating in a niche market offering career guidance to a selected group of students and parents committed for career advancement using the expertise and modules provided by Kersu Limited, founder’s UK based company
Kersu Limited is actively engaged in consultancy services for educational establishments. Educational establishments benefit from independent evaluation of its quality, processes, marketing, human resources, program coverage, infra structure management etc.

Colombo Business School Ltd ( CBS ) was at the forefront of education for almost two decades providing courses on a variety of fields such as Accountancy, Marketing, Personnel Management, Information Technology , Computing , General Management , Airline Ticketing, English Language, Business Communication, E Commerce etc. The programs conducted were targeted for school leavers after G.C.E.( O.L.) & ( A.L. ). The programs offered included British professional bodies namely Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ( CIMA ), Chartered Institute of Marketing ( CIM ) , Institute of Personnel Management ( IPM ), Institute of Commercial Management ( ICM ), Institute of Business Administration ( IBA ), etc. CBS was also affiliated to James Watt College and Huddersfield University of UK
CBS offered Higher National Diploma ( HND ) programs of James Watt College validated by Scottish Qualification Authority ( SQA ). The internal programs offered included Business Administration, computing and Accounting. The students completing the HND programs had the opportunity to progress to honours degree in General Administration, IT and Accounting of the Huddersfield University conducted by CBS.
Huddersfield University, the Royal Charter British University was affiliated to CBS in conducting bachelors degree and masters programs. The University Huddersfield provides quality education stretching back to 1841 with over 18,000 full time and part time students, making it one of the most popular in its field in the UK. The degree and HND programs were conducted at CBS and the certificates were issued by the British University / James Watt College. The delivery, assessments and examinations were closely monitored and validated by the British University / James Watt College. There was access to tutorial notes on the web of the British University / James Watt College to supplement the library facilities that was made available at the CBS premises
The school had a past student base of over one hundred thousand and several students secured World and Sri Lanka prizes for its CIMA and CIM programs. The students were given access to modern facilities and comprehensive teaching methods for developing knowledge and skills for corporate performance. The high standards maintained at CBS enabled students to secure promising opportunities in the private sector
CBS is presently engaged in consultancy services for several schools in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. The consultancy services include quality improvements, corporate planning, resource management, program management, Human Resources, Marketing, Information and systems Management etc
